In the interview on the main site yesterday, Steve Bruce paid tribute to the fans who travelled up to burnley and travel away every game to watch the team.

Why then do we only get a wave from Bruce and a few claps from about 3 players? Why don’t the team all stand and applaud the crowd? They have all played, some just run off the pitch (Tiny, DJ etc)???

It may be only a small thing but it is a long way to travel to these games, a bit of appreciation from the team would be nice! (Fair play to Clemence who always does it)

I think the original point was very good. It is important to away fans to be recognised, far more than for home fans in a way. They do after all put in more effort than most home supporters. It does mean a lot when you are cold, wet and fed up at the end of a poor game, and even at yesterday's type of game where we had something to celebrate.

Brucie and the boys could to do more in this way I think.

at Coventry, after our support, at the final whistle I looked at Bruce and he was telling the players to all come over and clap which they did! At one point, I thought hed asked them to chuck their shirts into the crowd or something lol

I think the original poster has a point. While I appreciate that our fans have not been the greatest for the last few seasons; many travel across the length and breadth of the country (and abroad for some of the preseason) to support the team and the majority sing their heart out for the whole of the game. They deserve a little recognition from the players- nothing fancy, just a wave and a 'thank you for coming' is nice.

yep i agree with the first post, away fans should get something to acknowledge their support, i couldnt get there yesterday as i had to see the police but ive been before when the players do little and giving a wave or whatever could really encourage fans to keep going back couldnt it?

To be far I've been to cov and burnley away this season and the majority of the players did come over and clap us after both games. Clem's just a pro and a very under-rated player. I've always liked him, he played the majority of the season we finished in the top 10 in (35 games) and was a major part of the team.
He's probably with Tiny and Muamba been our best player over the last 7 matches

Are these the same 'away' supporters that refuse to go to home matches?

I don't think they deserve anymore recognition than home fans - just the same.

I can imagine what my missus would say if I told her I didn't get a wave off Brucie after the match and how peeved off I am about it - she'd tell me to stop being such a ******* puff.
